Across the Pond

The leaves were blowing at the edge of the pond
Each family were getting ready for a new day

Sylvie Sparrow: This is where I belong
Bubbles Gooseberg: Honey, it’s time to leave home
Sylvie: But where will I go?
Bubbles: Across the pond sweetheart
Sylvie: Why would I leave?
Bubbles: It’s what all youth do
Sylvie: Why?
Bubbles: It’s a rite of passage. Its when they go travel the rest of our community. Think of this as your nest, where you come home after a long day. Somewhere safe to call home.
Sylvie: Can I go with someone?
Bubbles: Temperance, the tortoise will be your guide across the pond

I’m hoping to become a writer, playwright & novelist. I'm also considering becoming a Historian or librarian at this stage in life. I'm looking for opportunities in performance writing and publishing short stories in literary magazines. I study English and Creative Writing at university.
